If you’re comparing outdoor seating materials for a park, a school or a club, aluminium is usually on the shortlist for one simple reason: it doesn’t rust, doesn’t need repainting, and holds up to constant outdoor use with very little upkeep. Here’s what to weigh up before you order, and which of our Barakula settings suits which site.
Aluminium settings are lightweight, which makes them easier to move or reposition without machinery, and they won’t rust or corrode the way steel can in coastal or high-humidity sites. They’re a straightforward choice wherever a timber-slat setting would need regular repainting or oiling to stay looking good.
Our aluminium settings come in a few finish options: natural aluminium, clear anodised, powder-coated Dulux colours, or a wood-grain look if you want the appearance of timber without the maintenance. Powder-coated colours are worth considering if you’re matching existing site furniture or branding; natural or anodised finishes suit sites that want a more industrial, low-fuss look.
The standard length across the Barakula range is 2000mm, which comfortably seats six adults (or six to eight kids on the Junior version). From there, 3000mm, 4000mm, 5000mm and 6000mm lengths are available, or a custom length if you need an exact fit for your site. As a general rule, longer settings suit high-traffic areas like sports grounds or school assembly spaces, while the standard 2000mm length covers most park and picnic-area needs.
The Barakula is our standard setting, suited to parks, sporting venues, clubs and general public use. The Barakula Junior is sized for younger children and is popular in primary schools and early learning centres. The Barakula Wheelchair Access is the same setting with side access built in, so a wheelchair user can sit at the table rather than at a separate bench. All three share the same length options, so they can be mixed and matched to suit a site with different user groups.
Beyond an occasional wipe-down, there’s not much upkeep required. Aluminium won’t rust, corrode or need repainting, which is the main reason it holds up better than timber-only settings in exposed or high-traffic sites over the long run.
The standard Barakula seats six adults at the standard 2000mm length. The Wheelchair Access version is the same setting with side access built in, so a wheelchair user can sit at the table rather than at a separate bench.
Yes, though it’s sized for younger children specifically. If you’re seating a mix of students, staff and visitors, we can help you work out the right combination of Junior and full-size Barakula settings.
Yes. All three variants come in the same finish options, so you can match a standard, junior and wheelchair-access setting across one site.
